Our Story

Silver Ranch jewelry is created to feel like a long-loved treasure, newly found: jewelry to live, love and breathe in. It is my intention to create beloved treasures that soothe your spirit and delight your senses.

As a child I lived in North Africa, and traveled with my family into the Sahara and to the ruins of ancient Roman cities.

The raw beauty and simplicity of the desert landscape, the ruins and ancient artifacts we found, worn by the passage of time, shaped my love of simple lines and form that I now translate into my designs.

Like the softened remnant pieces of ancient civilizations, I believe that it is the simple things of life that are the most enduring.

I use modern and ancient metalworking techniques to create my jewelry, and each design may go through many iterations before it has the right balance, feel and expression.

Each piece of Silver Ranch jewelry is created by hand, with integrity.

My background as an environmental marine biologist informs my commitment to doing my part to preserve and protect our environment. I am dedicated to maintaining a socially and ecologically sound business and cast my designs in the most sustainable metals possible, and only source materials from socially responsible partners.

My memories of Bedouin and Arab women with stacks of silver bracelets and blue tattoos sparked my fascination with personal adornment, and I still can hear the jingling sounds of silver and see their hoop earrings swaying and glinting in the sun.

While my nuclear family was globe trotting, my extended family lived in the American west. Visiting my grandparents’ small ranch meant Grandpa’s scuffed brown cowboy boots and Grandma’s high heeled red ones. It also meant real sage brush, high blue skies, western saddles and best of all, horses. A horse-lover's (ehem: me) dream!

When I fell in love with jewelry making as an art form, it was really with the metal itself, silver. I chose 'Silver’ to honor both the material that inspired this creative life adventure, and my formative years as an artist: my tangible and vivid memories of the bejeweled desert women. I roped in ‘Ranch’ as a tribute to the frontier, cowboy lifestyle part of my heritage and my own still horse-crazy dreams of owning my own little herd someday.

Silver Ranch truly is a blending of the richly diverse foundation upon which my life as an artist began. The name itself reminds me to keep listening to the inspirations from within and to follow the ever-unfolding frontiers of creative life.
